Frozen Text Effect - Photoshop Tutorial
Hailed as one of the best text effects, this is a highly versatile one that brings out the individual from your sentences or paragraphs. Make the text a part of the article, or replace the whole thing with it and you are good to go.
Here is an easy tutorial to create this unique text effect.
1. First you need to select the background photo you want to be the background of the text.
Select the Background (200px x 200px)
2. Next, select the text you want to get animated.
3. Now resize the selected text with any size you want.
4. You need to get the text transparent.
Select the text you want to get animated and go to the Clipping Mask Mode
5. Now fill in the background shape with white and click the "Apply" button.
6. Save this image as a PNG file and then activate the "Layer Style" option from the tool bar.
7. Next click the "Apply" button again and now you will have the chosen text edited with the background as a solid color.
8. Now go to Filter > Distort > Decimate which gives you a simpler and more precise result.
9. Finally to add a touch of transparency, you need to select the selected part from the selected layer and click on the "Push" button.
10. When you want the layer to be transparent again, you need to select the layer in the Layers panel and go to the Layers palette.
11. Change the Filtering Option to "Content" and you will see that the image is now transparent again.
12. It is now time to add a cool frame to this text effect. Select the "Photoshop Blend Parts" option and select the closest layer to the text in the layer hierarchy.
13. Use the "Split" option to choose the center point of the frame. It should be a vector based shape which you can place in your project.
14. To create the text background, you can just edit the base color and click on the same layer to select the rectangle shape that you have created.
15. You can set the height and width of the rectangle.
16. A nice, clean, but simple, text frame is done. Here is how you can create this text effect using two columns and the same keyframes as above.
16. Let's add some more light to the text. So go to the "Text Effects" option from the Toolbar, and select "Add Light".
17. Use the following two keyframes to give some life to your text.
I hope this text effect made you want to explore more possibilities.
See you in the next tutorial.
