How to Use Smudge Tool in Photoshop

How to use Smudge tool in Photoshop

you can use the smudge tool as an erase tool in photoshop and erase parts of a layer, modify the background color, add new layer (as shown below)

if you create the same image again (like you have done above), then just double click to use the new layer, and that’s it you have created the previous image again (as shown above)

if you delete the layer and the existing layers, you won’t have to erase layer from your working image again, it will automatically be removed

if you want to increase the size of the image and not use the smudge tool, you can use the Scissor tool instead, just use the arrows to control the size of the image (you can see image below)

How to apply adjustment layers

Step 1:

Choose the layer you want to apply adjustment layer on.

Step 2:

Hold the CTRL key, and right click the layer you want to adjust.

Now choose the Adjustment Tab

click on the three vertical icons at the top of the window, and select the adjustment tab.

Step 1:

At the bottom, click on the yellow play button at the top left of the window.

Step 2:

Now, you will see some options for the adjustment layer, click on the Adjust tool, and then choose the desired option.

Step 3:

At the bottom, you can see all the tools for that adjustment layer, you can use the second option to select the desired tools.

Using the Adjustment Layer Tool

If you want to see how this works, you can click on the second tool next to it, and then select the closest layer you want to work on, click the normal option, and then you can see the preview of the layer (shown below)

You can click the preview to see the full image before you apply it, or you can click it again, and keep going.

When you apply the adjustment layer you have created, the layer with the options you want is applied, and your adjustment layer (with the options you chose) is hidden.

When you click the Preview Image

The adjustment layer with options you chose is shown again, this time, with the layer with the options you applied before being hidden.

Similarly, you can change the brightness of the layer (to give it a bit of contrast), or, change the layer’s color, or, change the mask over the layer.

What is the end result?

That’s all for now, until next time when I will explain how you can make an animated image using the pathfinder and the mask in the paths and masks tab.

Over to you!

Cheers,

Minor JV.
